Alliance of Law Firms: Asia Pacific Regional Meeting
The
International Alliance of Law Firms (Alliance) is an
international network of leading commercial law firms with
56 member firms in 40 countries. Raslan Loong hosted the
2008 Asia Pacific Regional Meeting from 20 to 22
November. The Regional meeting was attended by
representatives from throughout the Asia Pacific Region
including New Zealand, Japan, India, Canada, Great Britain
and various states from Australia.
Delegates
to the meeting met with the Heads of Mission and trade
attaches from the member countries and also clients and
contacts of the members at a welcoming cocktail reception
hosted by Raslan Loong.
Darryl
Mann, the President of the Alliance who attended the
Regional Meeting said “the experience of my firm, Torkin
Manes Cohen Arbus LLP, Canada, in working with many of the
members has been immensely beneficial, positive and
rewarding. Through our membership, we provide prompt and
effective counsel, advice and representation to Alliance
members and to their clients when issues, transactions or
proceedings arise that engage our local laws or practices.
Similarly, when we or our clients are involved in
transactions or proceedings that relate to other
jurisdictions, laws or practices, we are able to call upon
our Alliance colleagues and receive the level of expertise
and service that we provide to our own clients”.
Loong
Caesar the Chief Executive Partner of Raslan Loong adds,
“the main benefit that member firms derive from the Alliance
is the global network which enhances the overall service
that we are able to offer to our clients both here and
internationally, thereby providing both my firm and our
clients with an advantage over our competitors”.
In a
highly competitive business world, the ability to depend
upon one another's integrity and expertise and the
commitment to each other enhances the success of the
Alliance, its members and their respective clients.
To further
improve the competitiveness of each member firm within the
Alliance, one of the initiatives that was discussed at the
meeting was how the Alliance through its network of global
membership and its numerous committees and industry-focused
groups, can create and foster novel opportunities for member
firms and their clients to pursue internationally in view of
the current economic circumstances.
